The Chanel Métiers d'Art Show in New York City revealed six trends that all the stylish girls will be sporting in 2026.

Observe the scene, the famous guests, and the fashion trends on the runway.

If you never imagined that celebrities would pose for pictures at a Chanel runway show from the bottom of the stairs to a subway station in New York City, I'm here to tell you that it did happen last night. Matthieu Blazy chose New York City as the venue of his first Métiers d'Art exhibition since taking the creative director lead at Chanel, and nearly every hip fashion person and celebrity in NYC came out to take in the collection.

Blazy's debut collection at the fashion company during Paris Fashion Week S/S 26 was undoubtedly the buzziest of the season, as a new era at Chanel had obviously come. As he set out to reinvent the iconic Chanel style, he established many trends during the show. Blazy furthered his vision for Chanel with the Métiers d'Art 2026 collection, an annual off-season pre-fall show that Chanel started in 2002 to highlight the artistry and craftsmanship at the core of the brand. He showcased his take on tweed, the casual side of Chanel (more on that below), and a variety of future It items.

Read on for all of the information on the presentation, from the subterranean setting to the celebs in attendance to the styles the fashion crowd will embrace in 2026.

The Subway Setting

Chanel has a long history of holding its Métiers d'Art presentations in unexpected locales, with the latest one in NYC, in 2018, under Karl Lagerfeld taking place in front of the Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This also applied to the derelict Bowery subway station that was selected for the 2026 performance; it was the epitome of New York. Chanel's version of the I Love New York tourist t-shirt was even worn by a model. After the celebs and fashion throng in attendance down the stairs to the platform, the models came via an actual subway car, with said platform functioning as the runway.

The Front Row of Stars

The celebs came out in full force, as is customary when it comes to Chanel. A$AP Rocky, the brand's newest ambassador, Ayo Edebiri, Jon Bon Jovi, Bowen Yang, Tessa Thompson, Emily Ratajkowski, and a host of other well-known people with ties to NYC and/or Chanel congregated on the platform, all of whom were wearing items from the latest collection.

The Matthieu Blazy–Approved Trends It's apparent from his first two collections that Blazy is putting wearability into great consideration for his Chanel designs. The dominant trends that made their way down the subway platform runway last night for pre-fall 2026 were a reflection of it. Below are a handful you're sure to see on all the stylish fashion folks in the coming year. Bouclé Plaid Blazy gave the F/W 25 plaid trend a contemporary Chanel spin, presenting it mostly in the form of bouclé outerwear. Consider it the Chanel tweed jacket 2.0.

Trim the Fringe

Is the new lace trim fringe trim? Blazy seems to think so. (However, there was some lace trim in the collection.) His love of fringe, which we know from his days at Bottega Veneta, is being carried over to Chanel in the form of coats, skirts, and dresses.

The Fundamentals

Some of my personal favorite outfits in the collection were the ones that were pared-down and perfect for everyday wear. Crewneck sweaters, button-down shirts, oversized white t-shirts, loose-fitting jeans and pleated pants, half-zip pullovers, and statement jewelry were all paired with fashionable heels and future It bags.

Stylish Print of Animals

The Chanel interpretation of the animal-print trend is as sophisticated as it gets, and it doesn't seem to be going away. Blazy created embellished animal-print skirt suits, a textured tiger-print sheath dress, and topcoats with graphic leopard and zebra prints, to mention a few.

Pointed Cap-Toe Heels

A Chanel collection wouldn't be complete without cap-toe shoes, and the 2026 models include T-straps, V-cut vamps, and pointy toes. In many cases, the cap toe was informally envisioned, taking the form of a triangle shape or a stripe.

Trenches in leather

Don't cast aside your leather bomber jacket, but the Métiers d'Art revealed that the leather jacket type people will be yearning in 2026 is exquisite trench coats, some of which even had a moto-jacket vibe to them.
